Records and Information Management
Objectives
In our age information has become the most important asset in an organization's
life, to such an extent that some theorists see inormation as the fourth
major factor of production, alongside land, labour cand capital. Most of
this information is recorded on some form of durable medium with the aim
to preserve them for long periods of time.
The purpose in doing this is to use them again in the future. However,
to be able to do this one needs to divide them into manageable chunks and
arrange them beforehand, so as not to get lost in huge mountains of paper
stacks when a need to find and re-use them arises.
This course aims to highlight the issues and problems associated with
the creation, maintenance, use and preservation of information and records
created and kept in organizations during the course of their daily business
transactions.
