Bekir Kemal Ataman's Involvement in Business Management

My first encounter with the business management concept was when I was translating articles for the popular business management journal Karizma, published by Ronesans Reklam, Yayin, Fuarcilik.

This background helped me realize, when I was studying for my MA, that archivists and records managers need to be trained in this science, as much as the professional subjects. So, on my return I attended several courses at Ph. D. level on Organizational Behaviour, Management & Organization, and Business Management in Istanbul and Marmara Universities (totalling 48 credit hours).

I have to admit, this training made life a lot easier in managing a team of five graduates in the six years I have spent to set up an archives museum for Yapi Kredi Bank.

The same holds true for the project we have run, with a team of nine post-graduate students, to setup a records management program from scratch for Uskudar Local Council.

This interest gave its fruits in my full professorship when I became the chair of Department of Business Management at Giresun University in February 2010.
